Our employees have demonstrated exceptional strength, courage and resilience this year as they worked to keep our doors open – if only virtually at times – and ensure everyone was safe.
Courage meant we were able to provide 41,000 nights in a YW shelter to women and children seeking shelter and safety.
Case managers, counsellors, early childhood educators, housekeeping and facilities teams at the Hub and Sheriff King Home donned PPE each day and implemented new cleaning and safety precautions to ensure ongoing service delivery.
Courage meant we were able to provide nearly 600 hours of preventive group counselling as well as over 1,800 family outreach sessions through our COMPASS program.
Many on the support side shifted to virtual work and that came with its own challenges for connection, learning how to lead, engage and at times onboard new team members while supporting the business so our front-line teams could continue to do their work.
Even when we were unable to keep programs and services physically open to the general client base – such as childcare when they were only able to provide services to front line workers – the teams took on engagement projects that provided much-needed support to our clients who were not able to access our facilities due to COVID restrictions.
