Even in this Year of COVID, YW continues to meet people where they are at in their lives and offer services that support across continuum from crisis to surviving and ultimately thriving.
On average, about 40% of our clients come to us in crisis and access intervention services that include our Sheriff King Home shelter, Transitional Housing, domestic violence outreach, and/or counselling for domestic violence.
Last year alone YW provided over 1,900 hours of outreach services for individuals experiencing domestic violence.
Approximately 20% of our clients accessed services that help them on their path towards thriving through programs such as Community Parent & School Support (COMPASS), Family Access Services and our employment support programs.
In 2020, YW held more than 600 family and children’s counselling sessions.
Another 40% of our clients utilized services such as YW’s Family Resource Network, Mindful Moments, Childcare, and Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) that support them to move beyond surviving, into thriving.
Despite the disruption of COVID-19, the new YW Childcare Centre at our Hub facility was able to offer over 18,000 daycare days this year.
