Mothers’ Day has a lot of meaning here at the YW. It’s bittersweet.
It’s a time when our little Pandas, Bunnies, Koalas and Chipmunks are busy creating artwork and crafts that will be treasured.
It’s a time when the women working closely with our job counsellors are polishing up their resumes and bravely knocking on new doors in search of that ideal job that will help them pay the rent and support their families.
It’s a time when we are celebrating new babies born to the many young moms and grandmas who work here.
It’s a time when our dedicated crisis counsellors – some mothers themselves – are working shifts right around the clock, helping families in crisis, spending Mothers’ Day away from their own families.
It’s a time violence and poverty feels even worse, if that’s possible.
Our doors are open 365 days a year. Please support the YW and the services we provide for women and their families.
