We would not be able to keep our doors open to vulnerable women and their families without the support of our wonderful donors! As you plan for the year ahead, we wanted to share the many ways you can support the YWCA of Calgary and our mission to intervene, empower and lead when and where women need us most.

5 ways to give to the YWCA:

1. Donations – Your donation provides emergency shelter, housing, counselling and skills for women struggling with poverty, homelessness and family violence. Your ongoing gift means we can help vulnerable women and their families find safety, develop healthy relationships, acquire affordable and appropriate housing and gain sustainable employment. You can donate in person, by mail or telephone!

2. Special events – .The YWCA holds three signature special events each year. These include YWCA KEEP A ROOF OVER THEIR HEADS®, YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES® and the YWCA WHYWHISPER Fundraising Gala. Check out our website for upcoming events!

3. Community Fundraising – There are many ways we can support your community fundraising efforts, whether it’s a social event or a birthday party, a run with a fundraising component, a gala celebration or your own unique spin on a YWCA event in a box. A great big shout out to a recent community partner – Calgary Academy. Students raised money through chores and odd jobs before spending the night on their gymnasium floor in support of homeless women and children!

4. Volunteering – Approximately 700 of you will volunteer for the YWCA this year! We strive to engage volunteers within our community through a diverse range of opportunities, from special events, fundraisers and group opportunities to volunteering within one of our many program areas. 5. Employer gift match – Double your gift giving impact! If your employer has a matching gift program, simply submit a copy of your tax receipt through the appropriate channels at work and your employer will send us a gift that matches yours. In the last ten years more than 70 Calgary employers have matched almost $175,000 in donations to the YWCA.
