For Immediate Release
CALGARY, June 15, 2019 – Today, YW Calgary is proud to celebrate Neighbour Day with our neighbours, volunteers and team members at our new home in Inglewood.
In collaboration with community partners and local businesses, the Inglewood community is invited to enjoy a barbeque, family-friendly activities and receive a guided sneak-a-peek tour of the new YW Hub facility before it opens to the public in September 2019.
“We are excited to be moving into our new home in Inglewood over the summer and open our doors to the community in September,” says Sue Tomney, Chief Executive Officer, YWCA Calgary. “We’ve received a very warm welcome from this wonderful community and this Neighbour Day we are providing our neighbours and Calgarians with an opportunity to connect with us and with one another.”
YW has been part of the Inglewood community with YW Sheriff King Home for more than 30 years. This Neighbour Day celebration is an opportunity for the Inglewood community to explore YW’s new home and learn about how the new YW Hub will be a bustling place of activity for all Calgarians. This new home will offer engaging community spaces and provide programs and services to help women transition from crisis to stability.
“This bright and beautiful space will support women and families to move from crisis to stability,” says Jan Damery, Vice President of Resource Development, YWCA Calgary. “Being in the heart of a welcoming and supportive community will have a remarkable impact on helping women and their families build a brighter future.”
Calgarians can be part of creating a safe and welcoming home for women at the new YW Hub facility by supporting the YW Transformation Campaign. For more information, visit www.YWSheMatters.ca
